"Against unseen jungle terrors and untamed savage tribes ... and pounding war-drums that echoed his challenge!"
- Director: Raoul Walsh
- Genre: Western, Drama, Action & Adventure, Classics,
- Studio: United States Pictures
- Subtitled | Duration: 120 Mins
|
Overview:
This Warner Bros adventure comes from Gary Cooper's fallow pre-High Noon period. It can't technically be termed a western as it's set in Florida, but deals with a familiar theme, as Seminole Indians go on the warpath against an expeditionary force in 1840. The supporting cast, led by Mari Aldon (whose make-up and costume are totally unaffected by the rigours of the plot) is way below par, and the whole thing is held together by the sheer star power of Cooper. If it all seems a little familiar, that's because director Raoul Walsh has reworked his own Second World War drama Objective, Burma!, with the native Americans standing in for the Japanese.
